The motto of the Daintree Cape Tribulation tourism association is You need to stay More than a day and below you can see why! Cape Tribulation tours include: |
|
Reef trips - Cape Tribulation is very close to the Great Barrier reef and a visit to this area would not be complete without a trip to this natural wonder. While many (often very large) boats run out of Cairns and Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation has only two small operators, ensuring a pleasant day and pristine coral. These popular trips are often booked out in the busy season, you might like to book this in advance to avoid disappointment. Rum
Runner cruises can pick you up from Rainforest
Hideaway at 07.50 and take you on a sailing catamaran to the Great
Barrier Reef for an unforgettable day of snorkeling and/or scubadiving
. |
|
Ocean
Safari is the other option, this is a high speed
rigid inflatable that carries 25 passengers and will take you out
to the reef in only 30 minutes. They pick up from Rainforest Hideaway
and take you to Cape Tribulation Beach for departure. |
|
From Cape Tribulation there are only day trips to the reef, if you'd like to spend several days on a liveaboard boat you'll need to do this from Cairns, to book reeftrips or scuba diving courses (or any other tours) in Cairns click here.

|
Horse
riding - Cape Tribulation Horse Rides offers
two rides per day, picking up from Rainforest Hideaway at either
8 am or 1.30pm . You will be taken to the stables where you will
be given a horse to suit your riding ability and be given instructions.
Then you will ride through rainforest and creek crossings to Myall
Beach for a beach ride. On your way back through the rainforest
trails you will stop at a beautiful freshwater swiminghole for a
swim and some refreshments. For the experienced riders there will
be opportunity to trot and canter. |
|
Jungle
Surfing - Jungle Surfing Canopy Tours allows
you to fly with the birds gliding through and above the rainforest
canopy along a series of flying fox cables or zip lines. |
|
Guided
rainforest walks - The Daintree rainforest is
the oldest rainforest on the planet and knowledgeable local guides
can take you on guided walks through this jungle and explain to
you how this ancient ecosystem works, there is a choice of morning,
afternoon or night walks, prices range from $25.- to $32.-. Or you
might like to explore further north up the famous Bloomfield track;
four wheel drive safaris can take you as far as historic Cooktown,
showing you spectacular scenery, waterfalls and remote beaches along
the way. |
|
Crocodile

never seen this impressive ancient reptile in the wild. The guide
will also give you an insight into the mangrove ecosystem and other
wildlife. |
|
Fruit
Tasting & Orchard Walk - The Cape Tribulation
Exotic Fruit Farm runs daily tours where you can learn about permaculture
and exotic fruits from the Amazon, Borneo and Carribean, taste at
least ten different fruits, most of which you never will have seen
or heard of before. |

Sea
kayaking - Sea
kayaking is a fantastic way to explore the coast line
and I should know as I used to work as a sea
kayaking guide for two years around Cape Tribulation.
Though nothing can be guaranteed you may spot (in order of probability)
: sea turtles, sea eagles, sting rays, dolphins, dugongs or whales. |

The Daintree Discovery Centre near Cow Bay is an award-winning
world class interpretive facility that allows visitors easy access
to this unique rainforest wilderness via boardwalk tours, a 23 metre
high canopy tower, aerial walkway and comprehensive display centre,
not to mention a cafe with great coffee! |
|
Yoga classes are available at 6 PM every Wednesday at Coconut Beach Resort and at the Prema Shanti temple in Cow Bay at various other times throughout the week. Needless to say, you can spend many hours walking on the beautiful
beaches, birdwatching, or swimming in crystal clear swimming holes
in one of the many creeks that meander through the jungle. One popular
swimming hole is at the Cape Tribulation shop, where you will also
find groceries, take-away alcohol, postal facilities and Cape Tribulation's
only two hire cars. The energetic can climb Mt. Sorrow on a daytrip which will reward you with views all the way to the Great Barrier reef. There are also mountain bikes for hire to explore this area. If you're feeling hungry after your adventure packed day, there
is a wide choice of restaurants within walking distance, ranging
