Cape Tribulation Horse Riding Tours

Horse riding in Cape Tribulation is a good way to see how the Daintree rainforest meets the Great Barrier Reef,
your horse ride will lead through both rainforest and the beach.
There is a choice of horse riding tours in Cape Tribulation and horse rides and riding lessons in Cow Bay.
Further down the road there are also horse riding tours at Wonga Beach.

Horse riding on Myall Beach at Cape Tribulation

Cape Tribulation Horse Rides offers two rides per day, picking up from Rainforest Hideaway or other locations at either 8 am or 1.30pm . The free transfer vehicle will take you to the stables where you will be given a horse to suit your riding ability and be given instructions on how to ride safely. Then you will ride through rainforest and several creek crossings to Myall Beach for a ride along this totally unspoilt beach. On your way backto the stables you will again ride through the rainforest trails. The experienced riders will have a chance to trot and canter while the beginners take it a bit easier.

You can make an online reservation for the horse riding tours here but before booking your horse ride please take a moment to select your riding ability. It is in the interest of your own comfort and safety that you do not overstate your riding ability as it will not only reduce your enjoyment of the ride but it can also lead to dangerous situations and injuries.

C - Complete beginners with no riding experience, riders who have ridden 30 times or used to ride years ago, riders with some experience but who are not confident trotting, cantering or controlling a horse.

B - Riders who have ridden at least 30 times, riders who are confident controlling a horse.

A - Riders who are absolutely confident with every aspect of riding, have several years experience, and continue to ride frequently.

Due to insurance requirements the minimum age for this horse riding tour is 13 years. If you have children under 13 years that would like to ride they can get riding lessons at Cow Bay Horse Rides

Cow Bay horse riding tours and riding lessons

Horse riding and riding lessons are available in Cow Bay, this may suit some people better if they are staying in the Cow Bay area, are looking for a more private riding experience (just three riders and the guide) or if you have children under 13 who would like to ride.
Cape Tribulation Horse Rides has an age limit of 13 due to insurance requirements but Cow Bay Horse Rides can provide riding lessons to children. Basic riding, sporting and jumping skills are taught.

You will need to wear long pants, riding boots are supplied but you must bring your own socks.

You can cancel a booked tour up to 24 hours before departure and get a refund, after this there are no refunds.

Horse Riding on Wonga Beach

If for some reason you did not get to do your horse ride in Cape Tribulation then there is another chance a bit further south on the other side of the Daintree river at Wonga Beach, between Mossman and the Daintree river.
Wonga Beach Horse Rides have two departures daily, at 8.30am and at 2.30pm, and each ride has a duration of 2.5 hours and leads through pristine rainforest and along beautiful Wonga Beach.
They cater for both beginner and experienced horse riders and provide comprehensive tuition prior to departure.
Free pickups are provided from Port Douglas.
Boots and helmets are all provided, all you need to bring is long pants, a short sleeved shirt (no singlets) and a pair of socks.
