Cooper Creek Wilderness has a premier position within the heart of the Daintree World Heritage rainforests of the Wet Tropics of Queensland. For more than 135 million years, Cooper Creek lowland rainforest has been the habitat of many species of flora and fauna having ancient lineage. This section of the Daintree is considered to be the world's oldest rainforest - a living museum.
Guided walks are run daily, you have a choice of:

DAY WALKS - Experience the grandeur and awe-inspiring beauty of spectacular fan palm dominated rainforest on natural trails within a small exclusive group. Enjoy a swim in Cooper Creek after your walk. Times: 9:00am & 2:00pm @ Cooper Creek Wilderness, Prices: Adults - $40.- Children 4-13 - $30.-

NIGHT WALKS - Discover the nocturnal sights, sounds and movements of the rainforest with a local custodian. Times: 8:00pm @ Cooper Creek Wilderness

COOPER CREEK WILDERNESS EXPERIENCE

Immerse yourself fully with a three-quarter day tour (6 hour) comprising 2-hour guided, interpreted walk, 1-hour cruise through the world’s most diverse mangrove community in search of elusive crocodiles, a la carte lunch overlooking Cooper Creek and a leisurely swim in its idyllic waters.

Cooper Creek is located about 12 km, or a 20 minute drive, south of Rainforest Hideaway. You will normally need a car to get there, transfers can be arranged for $20.- p.p..

Mason's Tours is Cape Tribulation's original guided walk operator and since 1981 Mason’s Tours have provided eco tourism adventures to over 130,000 visitors.
Their guided jungle walks are conducted on the 170 hectare family property that shares 2 km. of its boundary with the Daintree National Park World Heritage Area (and 100 metres of its boundary with Rainforest Hideaway).

MORNING WALKS

Cost: Adults $49.- Children $39.- Pick up from Rainforest Hideaway 08.15 and returns around 12.15 – 12.30 , you will cover a distance of 3 to 5 km.

CROC SPOTTING NIGHT WALKS

This walk runs for about 2.5 hours and after the rainforest walk you'll go doen to Myall Creek to shine the spotlight around and (hopefully) see some crocodile eyes reflecting. Cost: Adults and children $42.00. Children under 7 not taken. Pick up from Rainforest Hideaway 19.40 – 20.00 , returns around 22.30
Insurance requirements dictate closed shoes on this walk.

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SAFARIS

The sealed road finishes at Cape Tribulation but for those wanting to explore the wilderness further north Mason's Tours runs four wheel drive safaris, ranging from half day tours to Bloomfield Falls to full day tours to historic Cooktown via the famous Bloomfield Track, well known since council bulldozers pushed it through the Daintree Rainforest in spite of protesters in 1983. The tour runs through rugged terrain to the Bloomfield River, the Aboriginal town of Wujal Wujal, Bloomfield,Cedar Bay National Park, Rossville and Helensvale before the noon arrival in Cooktown.

Cost for full day Cooktown safari: adults $212.00, children 4-14 $182.00.

Jungle Adventures runs night walks, pick-up times are similar to the above, prices are $35.- for nightwalks only or $25.- if booked together with a Junglesurf. All included are torches, raincoats, transfers and expert commentary by mad scientists. They can also take you right into the canopy which is not usually accessible, this is known as Jungle Surfing.
