Sea kayaking at Cape Tribulation, a great way to see the Daintree from a different angle.

Sea kayaking is a fantastic way to explore the coast line and I should know as I used to work as a sea kayaking guide for two years around Cape Tribulation.

There are two seakayak tour operators in Cape Tribulation, Cape Trib Paddletrek and Cape Tribulation Seakayaking, and one in Cow Bay; Tropical Seakayaks.
The two Cape Tribulation based tours can pick you up from Rainforest Hideaway with their bus, take you down to the beach and take you out on a half day sea kayaking adventure exploring the beautiful Daintree coast and its fringing reefs.

Morning or afternoon tea, fresh local coconuts and all equipment and instructions are included. No matter which operator you choose it will be a local with extensive knowledge of the local area giving you informative talks on the marine life, mangroves and local history. Though nothing can be guaranteed you may spot (in order of probability) : sea turtles, sea eagles, sting rays, dolphins, dugongs or whales.

Paddletrek leaves from Cape Tribulation Beach and travels south around the cape in good weather, or remains in the bay to enjoy the shelter from the south east trade winds so is a good choice on a windy day. Costs for this adventure are $69.- p.p. , there are also shorter and cheaper 2.5 hour sunset tours available at $59.-

Cape Tribulation Seakayaking leaves from the Cape Trib camping ground on Myall Beach and travels north as far as the Cape Trib Beachhouse, from where you will be taken back in their bus. Cost for their 1.5 hour tours are $45.-

Tropical Seakayaks in Cow Bay do a daily 4 hour sunrise tour for $59.- and also a two day seakayak tour to Snapper Island, which lies near the mouth of the Daintree river. The trip is done in 7 metre ocean kayaks and the cost is $199.- per person, tours depart on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
