Cape Tribulation Accommodation
/ Daintree Accommodation - B&B / Bed and Breakfast in the Daintree
Rainforest National Park
If you are after some truly unique and very private accommodation,
jungle style immersed in nature with some of today's comforts, then you
need to look no further than this.
If Tarzan and Jane had lived in the 21st century, this is how they would
have lived....
The roundhouse is an octagon shaped pole cabin, set
three metres high to enjoy magnificent views of the surrrounding
rainforest, 200 metres from the nearest house, a 200 metre walk
from the car park and right next to your own private beautiful fresh
water creek.
This unique place features a (composting) toilet with rainforest
views, an outdoor (hot) shower, solar electricity, a queen size
bed in the loft, a couch/daybed in the living area, an east-facing
breakfast bar and basic kitchen facilities. Do not let the open
design concern you, the nights are mosquito free!
As this is not your usual place, please have a look through the
photos and descriptions to see if this place would suit you, most
people love it but for some it is just too scary!

View from the entrance, there are screens that can be rolled down
to keep the rain out, but not needed for mosquitoes as there simply
aren't any at night!
East facing breakfast bar, watch the sun rise through the trees
40 square metre of octagonal living space
The daybed can be used to sleep a third person, ladder going to
the loft with a queensize bed
The queensize bed in the loft
The loo with a view, also known as composting dunny
The kitchen, bit basic but it has a 3 burner stove, toaster, steel
box to lock food away from wildlife, and an esky to keep things
cold (no fridge).
The world famous outdoor (hot) shower, as you are hundreds of metres
away from the nearest house this is very private, except for the
odd cassowary poking his head around the corner....
Front view of the roundhouse
Rear view of the roundhouse
And if you thought the house was cool, wait till you see
the pool....
The roundhouse is built next to a beautiful freshwater stream and
a short track and some steps down the bank lead to a small waterhole,
a bit small to swim in but what a place for a relaxing afternoon
drink....
Please note the ladder going to the bedroom in the loft which
makes this cabin a less suitable option for older, less mobile
or large size people.
Rates for the roundhouse are $120.- p.n. for a couple, $15.-
extra for a third person. This includes linen and towels but no
breakfast, the local shop sells most normal food items
and the cabin has some basic cookingfacilities, crockery and utensils.
The roundhouse is a self contained, self catering accommodation
and is not part of the B&B, and council restricts B&B's
to only serve breakfast to B&B guests.
As refrigeration is hard to organize without mains electricity
the roundhouse has no fridge. There is an esky (also known as
chully-bun or ice box in other parts of the world) to keep some
things cold with ice.
